govdex - The Australian Government Collaborative Workspace

Features

A govdex community, also known as a workspace, comprises a wiki, a task and issue tracker for project management, and a discussion forum. You choose which of these you want for your community.

Wiki and Discussion Forum

Wikis are platforms for collaboration, where users can collectively produce and edit content. A notable example is Wikipedia, an online encyclopaedia created collaboratively by its users.

The govdex wiki provides online workspaces where team members can hold discussions, develop ideas, create documents, share knowledge, post blogs and meeting notes, even have a team calendar.

The forum supports on-line discussion threads amongst a group of authorised users. Forums are organised by category and topic. Users create new topics and post messages against the topic.

Collaborative authoring

A workspace is a great place to collaborate on content, such as a report involving multiple stakeholders. Simply create a page on your workspace, and let the ideas and responses flow back and forth.

The wiki provides a safe editing environment where multiple authors can confidently work together. Every time a page is saved, a new version is automatically created - leaving an audit trail so you can easily compare versions, and reverse any change at any time.

Secure

Flexible security allows you to choose which teams and individuals can access different workspaces. You can restrict access and/or edit permission for particular pages within a shared workspace.

Works with email

Stay informed on the conversations within the wiki by selecting your notification preferences. Subscribe to receive emails when a particular page is edited, or when a comment or blog entry has been posted.

Task and Issue Tracker

The task and issue tracker keeps track of projects, tasks, and issues. You can also customise the tracker according to your preferred workflow.

Manage all your projects in one spot

For people who are involved with more than one project, the task and issue tracker provides a central hub from which to closely track each of your projects and their tasks.

Manage an unlimited number of projects, tasks and sub-tasks and include detailed descriptions and file attachments.

Project Tracking

See how projects and people are progressing with reporting tools, including:

  • Project time tracking reports and road maps
  • Customisable dashboards
  • Exports of report data to Microsoft Word and Excel.

Be informed of project updates

It's important to keep everyone up-to-date on the status of your project. Users can set up at-a-glance project status updates, charts and reports on their personal or team's dashboard. Keep your finger on the pulse by subscribing to automatic reports or even issue updates by email.

Online convenience with enterprise security

The Task and Issue tracker is a web application, making it convenient for team members and managers to collaborate wherever they are located. Only those individuals, teams and roles who have been granted access through the granular security scheme are permitted to view relevant tasks.
